Calculations for choosing the correct Dehumidifier

To lower the humidty level of spaces like living room, storage rooms, museums, cold strorage rooms etc. dehumidifiers are used.

Calculations

The no of Moisture Particles suspended in the air is called humidity. We also call it as %RH or Relative Humidity Level.

The moisture extraction capacity of a dehumidifier is expressed as Liter per Hour or Gram per Hour or Kilo Gram per Hour.

The amount of water removed by dehumidifier from the air is called as capacity of dehumidifier.

How to Select Right Dehumidifier: Designing Calculations:

For Example we have a warehouse with area of 3000 cubic meter. We have to reduce humidity from 70 to 50 %. The normal Temperature inside the room is 25 degree. We have to Design required capacity dehumidifier.

The airflow rate of HVAC system is 4000 meter cub per hour.

We have to convert humidity to Gram per Hour.

70% Relative Humidity = 138 gram per meter cub

50% Relative Humidity = 58 gram per meter cub

Hence, (139-58) x 3000 x 2 = 486 Kg per hour

The duhimidifier with 486 Kg/h capacity is required. If you have 60 kh/hour capacity dehumifiier you need 8 units.
